Raksha Bandhan Resolution: Safety for Every Daughter, Respect for Every Sister — Reyaz Alam
Patna, Bihar.
On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Reyaz Alam, Senior Corporate Professional, Social & Human Rights Activist, called upon society to move beyond the traditional celebration of tying a rakhi and exchanging gifts and embrace the deeper message of love, respect, dignity, protection and social responsibility.
He said that Raksha Bandhan is not merely a festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters; it is also an opportunity to strengthen our collective commitment towards creating a society where every girl and every woman feels safe, respected and empowered.
“On this Raksha Bandhan, every sister should seek a meaningful pledge from her brother—not only to protect and respect her, but to treat every girl and woman with dignity. We must never remain silent when we witness harassment, abuse, violence or humiliation against women. According to our ability and circumstances, we must raise our voice against injustice,” he said.
Reyaz Alam emphasised that women’s safety cannot be the responsibility of women alone. It is a collective responsibility of families, communities and society. Children must be taught from an early age to respect a girl’s choices, freedom, dignity and personal boundaries.
“If every man understands that every daughter is someone’s daughter, every sister deserves respect, and every woman has an inherent right to dignity and safety, we can make a meaningful contribution towards preventing violence and crimes against women,” he added.
He further said that the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan will be realised only when the rakhi tied on the wrist also becomes a commitment reflected in our behaviour, character and conduct.
“Let us pledge to create homes, communities and a nation where every girl can live with confidence, dignity, freedom and security. Let us respect women, speak up against injustice and reject every form of discrimination, harassment and violence,” Reyaz Alam appealed.
The Raksha Bandhan Pledge
We will respect every woman.
We will raise our voice against injustice.
We will treat every daughter as our own daughter.
Every sister as our own sister.
And every woman with dignity and respect.
He concluded by saying that this is the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan and an essential foundation for a civilized, safe, equal and just India.
