Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar), Maharashtra.
On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the Indian Journalist Association, the Marathwada, Maharashtra team organized a grand ceremony at the Government Rest House, Shubhedari, and celebrated the organization's foundation day with great enthusiasm by cutting a five-kilogram cake. A large number of journalists and organization officials attended the event, exchanging greetings and best wishes, and resolved to further strengthen the organization to protect journalist interests.
The chief guest, Seraj Ahmed Qureshi, founder and national president of the Indian Journalist Association, cut the cake to mark the organization's 18th anniversary. Extending heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the journalists and officials present, he said that this is not just the anniversary of an organization, but a symbol of the organization's glorious 18-year journey of unity, struggle, respect, and self-respect of journalists across the country.
National President Seraj Ahmed Qureshi stated that the Indian Journalists Association has been working as a leading organization for the welfare, safety, dignity, rights, and self-respect of journalists in 22 states and Nepal for the past 18 years. The organization has not limited itself to raising journalists' concerns, but has also worked to bring them to the attention of the government and relevant institutions, to educate journalists about their rights, and to stand firmly with them when necessary.
He stated that journalists are an important pillar of democracy. Journalists take the risk of exposing social events, corruption, injustice, exploitation, and public problems. Therefore, journalists must have a safe environment, respectful working conditions, and social security. The organization's objective is not to align journalists with any political ideology, but to strengthen the voice of unity and rights, while prioritizing journalistic interests.
The National President stated that the Indian Journalists Association has long been fighting for effective legislation to protect journalists.  The organization has raised its voice against cases of assault, threats, harassment, false cases, pressure, and other problems faced by journalists during news gathering. Despite the implementation of the Journalists' Protection Act in Maharashtra, there has been a lack of awareness of its provisions and problems with its effective implementation. The organization strives to ensure that every journalist is aware of the law and able to exercise their rights when needed.
He stated that the safety of journalists cannot be ensured merely by enacting laws; true protection is possible only through effective implementation, administrative sensitivity, and legal awareness among journalists.
He stated that the Indian Journalist Association has also been seriously addressing the issues faced by journalists working in small and medium newspapers, digital media, news portals, and YouTube channels. The organization believes that the value of journalism is not limited to large media organizations. Journalists working at the rural, urban, and district levels also play an important role in democracy.
The organization has consistently emphasized the need to raise issues related to RNI numbers, advertising in newspapers, tax issues on newsprint, recognition of digital media, and the existence and rights of small and medium news outlets at the relevant level.
The National President stated that journalists are not only faced with security, but also with their social and economic future. The organization has consistently raised demands for housing, medical facilities, simplified pension systems, financial security, and effective welfare schemes for needy journalists.
He stated that society and the government should also be responsible for the future of journalists who have served society and democracy for years. The organization will continue to demand policies for journalists that will ensure they and their families live a respectable life.
The organization is also emphasizing awareness among journalists about their rights, journalistic responsibilities, laws, digital journalism, news writing, factual journalism, and the changing media environment. The National President stated that the nature of journalism is rapidly changing. Consequently, journalists must be technically competent, legally aware, and committed to journalistic values.
He added that improved communication between the administration and journalists is also essential for a democratic system. Therefore, awareness and training programs should be organized for journalists and administrative officials.  State President Mohammad Tabish stated that efforts will be made to strengthen the organization in Marathwada by connecting journalists at every district and tehsil level. He stated that the organization's strength lies more in its unity, discipline, and commitment to journalists' interests than in its numbers. A strong organizational structure is needed to collectively address journalists' concerns.
State Vice President Javed Khan stated that mutual cooperation and unity among journalists is the most urgent need of the hour. Strengthening the organization is essential to ensure that journalists do not feel isolated under any circumstances. He called on all journalists to work with dedication to the organization's objectives.

He stated that documenting journalists' problems, submitting memorandums to the administration, and informing journalists about their rights should be among the organization's priorities.

Women journalists should have a safe and respectful working environment. She called for connecting women journalists with the organization and strongly raising issues related to their rights and safety.
